About Awards

Nominations are now open for the Compact Awards 2008. These annual awards demonstrate the Compact in action, and recognise and celebrate excellent partnership working. With the exception of the award for Compact Champion of the Year, nominations must be for joint partnership work.

Compact Awards (previously called Compact Commendations for Excellence) have been awarded since 2003 and are there to reward and recognise the excellent use and implementation of the Compact at a national, regional and local level.

Short-listing and judging will take place during September 2008 and the awards will be announced and presented at an awards ceremony during Compact Week (1 to 8 November 2008)

The nomiation categories include

• Local Compact of the Year Award
  Awarded for excellent joint Compact working at a local level.
• Compact Award for Excellence at a Regional Level
  Awarded to a regional partnership for promoting and implementing the letter and spirit of the Compact.
• Compact Award for Excellence at a National Level
  Awarded to a national partnership, Government department or a national third sector umbrella body for outstanding achievement in promoting and implementing the letter and spirit of the Compact.
• Compact Champion of the Year Award
  Awarded to an individual from any organisation in the public or third sector who has made a substantial contribution to Compact work, locally, regionally or nationally.
• The Commissioner's Award
  Awarded by the Judging Panel in recognition of exceptional achievement. This panel will consist of the Commissioner for the Compact, members of the Commission’s Non-Executive Board, the Chair of Compact Voice, the Chair of Local Compact Voice and representatives from the Office of the Third Sector and Local Government Association.
